Pete Renals is a Principal Researcher on Palo Alto Networks’ threat intelligence team. Pete joined Palo Alto Networks after retiring from the US Army with over twelve years of experience working in Cyber and Intelligence positions across multiple federal agencies. He has briefed at all levels of government and worked on initiatives that have shaped US cyber security policy. His area of expertise is using large datasets to detect attacks, identify attribution, and develop countermeasures in order to prevent future attacks by malicious cyber actors and groups. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in computer science from the United States Military Academy and a Masters in Information Security from Carnegie Mellon University.
