
Brigadier Robert (Doc) Watson, CSC
Brigadier Robert (Doc) Watson enlisted in the Australian Army in 1992 as an Electronic Warfare Operator.
Following graduation from the Royal Military College in 1997, he has had a series of regimental appointments at the 1st Signal Regiment, the 7th Signal Regiment (Electronic Warfare), the Defence Force School of Signals and the 2nd Commando Regiment.
He completed his sub-unit command at the 2nd Commando Regiment, and was the Commanding Officer of the 7th Signal Regiment (Electronic Warfare) in 2016/17.
Interspersing his regimental appointments, Brigadier Watson has held a series of staff positions, serving within Army Headquarters, Special Operations Command, and the Deployable Joint Force Headquarters.
Most recently, he served as the Director of Joint Cyber within Joint Capabilities Group. In 2021, he was promoted to Brigadier and appointed as the Director General Joint Information Warfare, Joint Capabilities Group. In this role, he is responsible for the ADF cyber, influence and electronic warfare programs.
Brigadier Watson has deployed on multiple occasions to East Timor and Afghanistan, the last as the Chief of Operations, International Security Assistance Force, Special Operations Forces.
He holds masters degrees in Information Technology (USQ) and Military Studies (ANU) and is a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
